Peace.

Peace.

We live in a world that seems constantly to be on the move and there is a continual feeling of the need to succeed. We are frequently reminding ourselves of all that has to be achieved or completed. The next painting that has to be done, that blank canvas should be getting put to use. The poem that has been buzzing around in the head has to be written down. From the time we arise to the time we go to bed seems like one continuous flow of movement.

It is worthy to take some time, in the midst of all this rush, to still the mind, to calm the thoughts. To simply be at peace with the world and oneself.

The artist is seeking to find ways of expressing to the world the inner feelings that come to them as they contemplate what they see around them. Nature flourishes and blooms, then it returns to the source and takes a time to renew and refresh. This is the way of all things and should be the way of all creativity.

Taking time to be at peace and to empty the mind in truth is also the way to open the mind. An open mind leads to an openhearted outlook which in turn helps us to attain a true sense of what and who we are.

Being at peace brings us into a state of being at one with the Tao and this removes all of those inner fears. Such peace, in fact, removes all fears, even the greatest of nightmares.

So before entering the hustle of another round of doing, first be at peace.
